29/07/2016 - Buffs, Lust & Drops

Hi there,

Small progress report after all reported bugs have been fixed. Thanks again for that by the way!

I've been working on a drop system, which... well, it makes it possible for enemies to drop things. I want this done soon because I want to start working on a crafting / alchemy system. It'll start off by allowing the player to create a potion, but eventually I want to have a large list of items you can create to set up a nice camp, increase companion affection, maybe make them a nice sweater for those cold nights. Or... well, plenty of choices.

Buffs; Most of the work was done already, but now it's been coupled with the lust bar. So the lust bar has been enabled too.

Elf encounter, I might release the current content so we can get some feedback. I really like it so far and I'm looking forward to seeing it develop in the future.

After that, I'm finishing up the forest because I don't like the current layout. But to do that, I have to write down the exact storyline for that area. Or atleast part of it.

I expect to have another patch ready on sunday or monday.

Sincerely Yours,
JV

  1. Fair warning : I've had played on the version before 29/7 fix, and my internet is soooo horrible some error may come from badly loaded files. In the same way :/
That being said, a full online mode that doesn't need to download piece of data here and there sounds really good to me (apart if you plan to keep some things on your server, and even with it...)

    Bug report :
    - During the game creation, setting your hairs to "tight-length" seems to kinda crash your character (being unable to see it when clicking on your name, plus various errors in console)

    About dialogues/text :
    - I am kinda confused about the intro (when your character goes to war) : Before waking up, your character think of "the past", and when you wake up, it was "a dream".
This whole part make me a bit confused about the game's timeline, and more importantly, if that "dream" will be the future, on possible future, or something else ?
If it's "one possible future", I guess having other available dreams showing other "futures" sounds pretty interesting. But again, I'm a bit confused with that part.

    - Your room description always say " as you enter the room from outside". Even when you just wake up, like, at the start of the game or after a rest.

    - At random, in house, before summoning the slime, "It seems , has found a rather interesting book. Or maybe she just wanted to taste it." pop.

    About UI.
    - Greying out buttons (save, mostly) when you can't use them (eg : in battle, in dialogues...) sounds like a good idea for me.

    - When you're shopping, I haven't seen an indicator of your current money. It may be useful

    - I hate the "done", "step down" and other confirmation message that often pop after just one line of text. I find having to do "go down" -> "step down" a bit redundant.

    A bout the new map
    - I like it, I find it more usable that way !

    - Through it really take some time to get used to the arrow (showing the location). Having (for example) a small square on shop/house, and the arrow pointing from which you can go in would be even better.

    - I find it a bit strange to be struck (by the blockade, or guard for the forest) without seeing it on the map.

    - The first time you go in Bart shop/the library, you use text button (instead of direction). On the next visits, you have to move "normally". That's even more confusing you always have button to visit blacksmith/cloth shop.
I must admit having an unified way to enter building sounds pretty nice (like always having button to enter shop/building/house, or always having to use the map)
That "unified" way is also valid to go out of somewhere
IMO, always having a text choice for going in/out buildings would be the best (and it also negate my above remark about only having arrow to show building next to a location). Through it's mostly a matter of taste.

    Others :
    - There is no auto-heal after waking up from your bed, after bing ko'd. That not really fun to go adventuring again only to be one shot by the first monster you encounter :3

    - I liked shoggy-chan introduction !

And, here, that's all, sorry for posting about a lot of small details.
Anyway, keep on the good work, and I'm looking for the next update ! The drop/crafting system sounds nice, and I'm waiting to see the elfs :3

  4. Game appears to stop updating the text window when the in-game time reaches 00:00. Location in the lower right still updates, you can still move through the town, but the map doesn't move and you can't actually do anything.

    1. Sorry about that, I was literally just preparing a post for an update that should fix that, amongst other things! Thank you for letting me know.
