13/05/2016 - Content update progress report

Hi there,

So I've been writing for the new content update, but I decided to make a small change to the current content first to make the story a bit more "realistic". Instead of multiple engineers, there's just 1. I don't think anyone will mind such a subtle change.

The reason I want to make this small change is because designing a house for a bunch of people to live in brought some interesting problems with it. It also seems more interesting to have one fleshed out character with his own motivations than a group of people with a common goal, simply because I already have a "group" as bad guys coming up later into the story.

The dungeon is basically the palace of the engineer. I don't want to spoil too much, but there will only be one monster girl in there. Yes, you can unlock this monster girl, but she's not for combat. Hope you like her.

I am currently working on the "dungeon" you have to go through to finish this quest. After that I am going to create the battles, final "cutscene" and the motivation to go into the dungeon.

I realised that if the player went inside the dungeon right now, they would just be invading someone's home for no reason. While that is a freedom I don't mind giving the player, it wouldn't make much sense to not even mention a possible motivation for you to be there in the first place.

I've also made a few changes to the shop, to make it feel more like you're actually in a shop. Anyway, that's all I've got for now. I'll let you know as soon as I've got something finished.

Sincerely Yours,
JV

  1. Really appreciate the work being put into the project. I imagine that if the freedom was given to just attack, the PC would be seen as a villain. On the other hand, will there be different approaches? Like getting dirt on the engineer, and letting an uprise against them set course with a group of revolutionaries to make the job a little easier? Speaking to Bart, it already seems like he'd be up for the task. It's a small suggestion. Really wouldn't want you to feel like you're burdened with an ambitious project.

    1. Don't worry, I love the suggestion! I really want to give the player as much freedom as realistically possible, and this is definitely something I have planned in the future.

The next update will have about 5 options to choose from, marking you as a villain, neutral or a good guy. The effects of your choice are.. They might be a little bit over the top, but I'll await feedback and see if anybody has complaints.

I will be expanding on the amount of options, such as the one you have suggested, at a later time.
The way Bart is going to help you, is by providing you with the location of the key to the storage shed in the garden of the engineer's home. He's a herbalist, so he's good with plants. The engineer hired him to take care of his garden.
Thank you for you interest in the game, I appreciate it a lot!

  2. It looks like it can be a good game though it really needs more content before anything can be said.
